About George
I'm George, a Computer Science and Mathematics double major at George Washington University with a 3.94 GPA and experience as both a university teaching assistant and a one-on-one tutor. I have worked with students in mathematics, programming, discrete mathematics, reading, and writing, and I am comfortable adapting my explanations to different learning styles and ability levels.
I scored a 1530 on the SAT, including a 790 in Math, and I bring the same structured, problem-solving approach to tutoring that I use in my own coursework. My goal is to create a professional, patient, and supportive environment where students can strengthen their fundamentals, build confidence, and become more independent learners.

I'm George, a Computer Science and Mathematics student at George Washington University with experience as a university teaching assistant and one-on-one tutor.
A typical lesson begins with me assessing the student's current understanding. I'm a firm believer that most issues with learning stem from a poor comprehension of prerequisite material, so I first ensure mastery of that. From there, we will work through examples together before moving toward problems the student completes more independently. I avoid providing answers directly, instead asking students questions and breaking down their reasoning to ensure they are getting to the answer in the best way possible.
What sets me apart is my experience working with students across both mathematics and computer science, along with my background teaching in university labs, office hours, and individual tutoring settings. My experience in both computer science and mathematics enables me to analyze whether the student I am working with comprehends topics visually, logically, or algorithmically, and I can tailor the lesson accordingly.
I tutor middle school, high school, and college students in subjects including algebra, precalculus, calculus, discrete mathematics, programming, and introductory computer science. I can also help students preparing for the SAT, particularly the math section.
