I don't have any experience of teaching students but I've done classes and trained my cousins and nephews to encounter the mathematical problem in the most possible short and precise way possible. This, in turn, makes the problem more interesting for them when they get it solved in schools.

Dealing with algebra for the oyu newbies is not a game to be played by rules, there's always a hit and trial and guessing made to make the game interseting and smooth. To make sure how this guessing is done it is mandatory to make up the mind and get it oriented in the same phase as the problem demands. I'll be discussing with the students these phases and solution to to their respective queries.
