My lessons are fully personalized based on your goals, skill level, and learning style. We’ll begin with a review of your recent games to identify strengths and areas to improve. Then, I’ll create a tailored training plan that includes:
• Opening theory — build a practical repertoire for both White and Black
•Tactical + strategic exercises
• Middle-game planning + endgame technique
• Tournament preparation + mindset coaching
• Ongoing game review — to track your growth and fix weaknesses

Lesson Format
• Length: 60 minutes
• Format: Online (any platform) or in-person (Edinburgh, from September 2025)
 •Tools provided: ChessBase, Chesscom Gold
•  First lesson: Completely free
• Price: Only £15 per hour — ideal for students and beginners

What a Typical Lesson Looks Like
The first thing we’ll do is doing chess puzzles analysing different positions because that is the basis to improve in chess. Then we will start by studying a relevant game, usually one connected to the opening you’re currently learning. As we analyze the position, we’ll naturally explore tactical themes, strategic plans, and endgame transitions. If you’ve played any games during the week, we’ll review them together and I’ll answer any questions you have. By the end of your first 6–7 lessons, you’ll feel confident navigating key opening ideas, recognizing patterns, and playing with greater clarity and confidence.

  • When did you start practicing? How did this passion find you?

I started playing chess when I was 6, with my parents. But it wasn't until I was 14-during the COVID pandemic-that I decided to take the game more seriously. I began studying tactics and theory and started taking lessons. From that moment on, I committed to improvement and started playing in regional and national tournaments.
  • Which artists or works affect you the most?

My favorite chess player from the past is definitely Mikhail Tal. His games are a masterclass in creativity, imagination, and fearlessness. Tal's style was far from conventional-his attacks were often sharp and unexpected, yet rooted in deep intuition. His combinations, though risky, reveal a brilliant understanding of both chaos and beauty on the board. Watching his games reminds me that chess is not just a science-it's a form of self-expression.
  • What are the qualities and skill required to succeed in this area?

To succeed in chess, several key qualities are needed. Discipline, patience, and curiosity are fundamental-especially when it comes to consistent studying and playing. But during games, you also need analytical thinking, emotional control, and the ability to stay calm under pressure. These are not only important in chess but also valuable life skills.
  • What is the most valuable advice you can give to help someone stay focused on creative projects?

In chess, it's important to stay focused by setting small, realistic goals. There's a lot to learn, so trying to tackle everything at once can be overwhelming. Focus on one aspect at a time-like learning a specific opening or reaching a particular rating. Don't aim for everything at once. Consistency is the key to long-term progress.
  • How would you describe your passion; how does it make you feel?

Chess brings me a sense of peace while playing, and it challenges me both intellectually and emotionally-especially during tournaments. Teaching is just as rewarding. Sharing my passion and seeing it grow in others is one of the most fulfilling parts of being a coach.
  • What creative achievements are you particularly proud of?

I'm proud of helping several students achieve tournament wins or reach personal rating goals. But more than anything, I'm happy to see them grow to appreciate how rich and beautiful the game of chess really is.
  • Have you ever been surprised by a student; by their ability or quick progression?

I'm still early in my experience as a chess coach, but the student I'm currently working with has shown great aptitude for learning openings and strategic concepts. Watching him improve so quickly is really motivating-it makes the teaching process incredibly rewarding.
  • Being a Superprof is an art! What is your secret?

The key to being a good tutor lies in tailoring each lesson to the student's personality and level. Whether we're working on building an opening repertoire, converting an endgame, or learning how to think through positions, I always adapt my approach. I also make sure lessons are engaging and interactive, with real games, practical examples, and personalized feedback.
