About Carlene
Fluency is a destination reached through consistent and meaningful interaction. I follow a philosophy that language is a social tool that should be used early and often to build true comfort.
My lessons for travelers and teens draw upon my Bachelor of Arts in Spanish to provide a deep understanding of structure. We work on vocabulary building through real world scenarios so that you feel prepared for any conversation. I prioritize conversational fluency over rote memorization because it serves your needs during travel or relocation. You can expect a supportive environment where we explore the nuances of my native tongue.

Travelers often tell me they feel stuck when trying to order a simple meal. I started teaching because I enjoy bridging the gap between textbook grammar and the way people actually speak. As a native speaker, I focus on accent and intonation to make your speech sound natural.
I help students preparing for immigration or relocation gain confidence through role play and dialogue practice. Business Spanish requires a different level of precision that I provide through targeted exercises.
I love sharing how idioms and expressions give color to the language. My own journey as a Colombian expat informs the cultural context I add to every session. Learning a language should be a joyful discovery of a new way to see the world.
