My approach as a tutor is hands-on and I will work with my students on key learning aspects such as pronunciation of french vocabulary and sentence building.
Here is a typical lesson plan for a student starting their french speaking journey.
Introduction (5 minutes):
Greet the students in French: "Bonjour! Comment ça va?" (Hello! How are you?)
Introduce yourself in French: "Je m'appelle [Your Name]." (My name is [Your Name].)
Explain the objectives of the lesson.
Warm-Up Activity (10 minutes):
Show pictures or use flashcards depicting people greeting each other in French.
Ask students to describe what they see and try to guess the French words for common greetings.
Vocabulary Building (15 minutes):
Present key vocabulary and phrases related to greetings and introductions, such as:
Bonjour (Hello)
Salut (Hi)
Comment ça va ? (How are you?)
Ça va bien, merci. Et toi ? (I'm good, thank you. And you?)
Je m'appelle... (My name is...)
Comment tu t'appelles ? (What's your name?)
Practice pronunciation together, emphasizing correct intonation and rhythm.
Interactive Practice (20 minutes):
Divide the class into pairs or small groups.
Provide scenarios or role-playing activities where students can practice greeting each other and introducing themselves in French.
Circulate among the groups to offer assistance and feedback.
Consolidation (5 minutes):
Review the key vocabulary and phrases covered in the lesson.
Encourage students to ask any questions they may have.
Wrap-Up Activity (5 minutes):
Assign homework, such as practicing greetings with family members or friends.
Remind students of the next lesson's topic and encourage them to review what they've learned today
