About Domonique

I am now approaching my second year of tutoring. I have tutored 4 children within the past year. 2 in state high schoolers, 1 elementary schooler, and one out of state elementary schooler. Primarily in the subjects of math and writing (whether History, English, Science). In one year alone, I have witnessed the improvement of grades (from Cs to As), attention and focus for the subject, and interest and enthusiasm in subjects that have been deemed challenging to the student.

About the lesson

I am very enthusiastic. Being fresh out of college myself and a few years out of high school, I understand the difficulties, and challenges that arise among students learning (from first hand experience alone). Whether it be having difficulty understanding what the teacher is talking about, general lack of interest, or striving to do better but in search of other techniques and approaches that work specifically for the person learning, I am keen on tailoring the subject in a way the student can enjoy. I allow the student/parent to choose which subjects we focus on, and will work through multiple examples with the student until the concept is first hand nature and can confidently step out to try one alone. I am extremely patient and willing to help and adjust to accommodate however needed. Working through multiple problems also enables me to gage where the deficiency lies, and focus on ways to bring an understanding in that specific area. I also create some memorable and relatable analogies to help with retention and memorization where needed.
