About Jonathan

I’m a PhD educator, published scholar, and current college professor with over a decade of experience helping students find their voice and succeed academically. My passion lies in supporting learners of all backgrounds—especially those who think differently or face challenges with traditional learning environments. As someone with ADHD, I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with focus, structure, and confidence. That’s why I bring a compassionate, personalized approach to every session. My students don’t just improve their essays—they develop critical thinking skills, emotional resilience, and a deeper connection to their own learning process. About My Lessons
As a PhD educator with over a decade of college-level teaching experience, I offer a highly personalized and strategic approach to tutoring. Whether you're crafting a standout college admissions essay or struggling to develop a coherent research paper, I guide students to become confident, critical thinkers and strong communicators.

My Method & Approach
I believe in helping students learn how to think, not what to think. I combine structured writing frameworks with tools from emotional intelligence and neuroscience to help students overcome anxiety, writer’s block, and executive functioning challenges. Each lesson is a dynamic conversation—curious, supportive, and designed to spark clarity and insight.

A Typical Lesson
A typical session begins with a check-in on the student's goals and current challenges. From there, we review any writing drafts, assignment prompts, or rubrics and identify a specific skill to strengthen (e.g., thesis development, transitions, source integration, or persuasive language). I offer step-by-step guidance while encouraging independent thought, followed by feedback and take-home strategies.

I bring a unique combination of academic rigor, coaching presence, and deep empathy. As someone with ADHD, I understand non-linear thinkers and help students build confidence through their strengths. My students don’t just improve their grades—they grow in clarity, purpose, and voice.
