About Kyle
My Professional experience spans the public, private, and not-for-profit sectors with specializations in STE(A)M (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) and sustainability education and application. Professional accreditations include Microsoft Certified Professional Solutions Developer (MCSD), GIS Technician II, Green Classroom Professional, and Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional, Neighborhood Development (LEED AP ND). Former Microsoft Hohm, Green Register, Sustainable Industries, Ecotech Institute/Ecotext, and Triple Pundit blogger. Won Planet Ark’s World Environment News Letter to the Editor competition, 2011.
I hold a BS in Environmental Studies from the University of Alabama's innovative and interdisciplinary New College, where I completed the Computer-Based Honors Program. I also hold a Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Although my Ph.D. in Interdisciplinary (Environmental Health) Engineering is on hold, my initial dissertation research, “Incorporating Occupational Risk in Heat Stress Vulnerability Mapping,” was published in the July/August 2014 issue of the Journal of Environmental Health.

I emphasize a critical thinking, big-picture approach but am sure to cover the "nuts and bolts" required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs). I believe learning should be interdisciplinary and fun. I will work with students based on their learning style. I believe students should have written plans for school and life to help them operationalize what they learn (i.e., practice what we preach).
