About Mulanga
Hello! My name is Mulanga, and I am a Civil & Structural Engineer and graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), one of Africa's leading universities. Alongside my engineering career, tutoring has been a significant part of my journey since 2023, and it has become one of the most rewarding things I do.
I enjoy teaching because I know how challenging technical subjects can feel. As an engineering student, I experienced difficult concepts, demanding assignments and the pressure of examinations. Those experiences shaped how I teach today—with patience, structure and a strong focus on helping students understand rather than memorize.
Over the years, I have delivered more than 145 documented one-to-one tutoring sessions, as well as numerous private and group lessons. I have worked with school learners, university students, adult learners returning to education and international students from countries including Ireland, Australia and Dubai.
What motivates me most is seeing students grow in confidence. Whether you're aiming to pass a difficult module, improve your grades, or build a stronger foundation in Mathematics or Engineering, I am committed to helping you reach your goals. Every student learns differently, and I believe great tutoring starts by understanding the individual before choosing the best way to teach them.

My teaching philosophy is simple: every student can improve when they truly understand the "why" behind the concepts instead of simply memorizing formulas. My goal is to help students become confident, independent problem-solvers who can apply their knowledge long after our lessons have ended.
As a Civil & Structural Engineer and graduate of the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits University), I combine academic knowledge with practical engineering experience. Since 2023, I have delivered over 145 documented one-to-one tutoring sessions, alongside numerous private and group lessons. I have worked with primary and secondary school learners, university students, adult learners returning to education, and international students from countries including Ireland, Australia and Dubai.
One of the qualities that sets me apart is my adaptability. I don't believe a tutor should only teach subjects they personally studied. Throughout my tutoring journey, many students have approached me with modules outside my own degree. Instead of turning them away, I study their lecture notes, prescribed textbooks, tutorials and course material, then teach the subject until they understand it with confidence. This approach has enabled me to support students across Civil Engineering, Building Engineering and other technical programs.
Lessons are personalized to your university or school curriculum, learning pace and academic goals. A typical lesson lasts between 60 and 120 minutes and includes concept explanations, worked examples, problem-solving strategies, exam preparation and guided practice. I encourage students to ask questions throughout the lesson because genuine understanding develops through discussion, not memorization.
Whether you need support with Mathematics, Engineering Mathematics, Mechanics or Civil Engineering modules, my objective is not only to help you pass your exams, but to help you think analytically, solve problems independently and develop the confidence to succeed throughout your academic and professional career.
