About Giovanni
Born and raised in Genova, Italy moved to the US at the age of 21. Bilingual from birth as my mother is Peruvian, I always had a fascination for languages and communication in general and I graduated from Liceo Linguistico (foreign languages and literature) in English, Spanish, German, and Russian with a score of 95/100. The thing that fascinates me is how different people communicate compared to what we are traditionally taught in school. That realization came once in Germany where I realized I could probably have a discussion about Goethe with someone, but have a hard time ordering food at a restaurant. In that moment I decided I would do everything in my power to "live the language" not just learn it.

As an immigrant (and a tourist) the biggest wake-up call you can get is realizing that school and traditional education only does so much to prepare you for real life. I want to focus on how the natives communicate, always keeping in mind grammar and rules that should not be forgotten, but using a more "natural' vocabulary. The primary focus would be for tourists, but also for anybody who wants a conversational knowledge.
