About Chris
- What kind of experience do you have? I have been playing guitar and learning music academically and as a hobby since the age of 10 (24 years). I have gained experience working with children, and making sure the lessons are enjoyable, fun, focused - taught as desired by talking with the parents to see what they are looking for. I have taught people from the age of 4, right up to their 70s, and covering every decade in between. I teach classical, traditional styles as well as rock, pop, folk, country, jazz. Some pupils have sat exams. Their results were as follows: Piano Grade 2 Trinity College Classical - Distinction Guitar Grade 1 ABRSM Classical - Distinction Grade 1 Rock School - Distinction Grade 2 Rock School - Distinction Grade 2 Trinity Guildhall Classical - Distinction Grade 5 RGT - Merit Grade 3 Trinity Guildhall Classical - Pass (this pupil had learning difficulties, so the pass was very pleasing for the family). - Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate? DBS 2014 - Where and with whom did you train? Kingston University - Tell me about some of your current students. One pupil has quickly worked her way up to grade 5 guitar, achieving Distinctions.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
My name is Millie, and I am a 15 year old guitarist. I started lessons with Chris on the 22nd of October 2020 for music theory where we worked through a workbook together. I had not previously studied music theory so it took me awhile to understand a lot of it but Chris was always patient and would explain something to me as many times as I needed until I understood.
He encouraged me to audition for the academy of contemporary music (even though I originally didn’t have the confidence to go for it). For the audition of the course I wanted to do there, I had to write an original song which had to be 3 minutes long. With Chris’ guidance, I finished the song and passed the audition to get into the school!!
Chris isn’t just a good teacher, he’s also a nice, easy to talk to person who wants his students to do well and be happy. He was very kind to me and my family when we were going through financial issues due to the pandemic. He was always flexible with lessons and understanding. He even offered a free lesson when we were really struggling. I am so happy that I chose to have lessons with Chris and hope to continue them in the future.Chris has been an excellent guitar teacher for my teenage son his enthusiasm has encouraged him to go on to play the electric guitar which he now loves. He has always tried to encourage Oliver with music that he will like but complementing this with necessary skills and techniques to improve his overall laying. He was was reliable and organised . With lots of ideas and enthusiasm for music generally. I would wholeheartedly recommend him.
We will like to express our sincere gratitude for the time, effort and patience you displayed in teaching my son to play guitar over the last two years. He has enjoyed his lesson thoroughly.
He has learnt how to read music and can now play the guitar confidently. Thank you once more of your expert help.she's really enjoyed her lessons and gained confidence to try a wider variety of music - so thank you for your time and patience
Chris is an enthusiastic young man with strong ability on the guitar across a range of styles from classical to hard rock. His formal qualification and training in music and experience in teaching the guitar make his lessons effective and informative. He is reliable, structured and his personable manner make his lessons most enjoyable.
Chris is reliable, flexible and encourages you to 'stick with it' and keep having a go if you are finding the piece tricky. The lessons are very much centred around what you want to do (if you're more interested in chord, if there's a specific piece you'd like to learn, ect) and he's always ready to demonstrate if you don't understand.Chris is a brilliant teacher who makes learning the guitar fun.
Chris Keyte has been teaching our son Joe guitar for several months. Joe recently achieved his grade 2 with a distinction. He really enjoys his lessons with Chris and looks forward to them. We would be happy to recommend Chris as a guitar teacher who relates well to young people and helps them to achieve good results.
