About Kai

I am a dedicated Chess tutor with 3 years of experience teaching students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced players. Over the course of my tutoring career, I have successfully guided around 300 students, helping them improve their understanding of the game, sharpen their strategic thinking, and develop confident decision-making skills. About the lesson

My teaching methodology for Chess centres around five core values: Communication, Flexibility, Integrity, Accountability, and Positivity. I believe these principles create a strong foundation for effective learning and growth in this strategic game. Communication is essential. I strive to keep an open dialogue with my students, encouraging questions and discussions about moves, strategies, and thought processes. This helps students understand not just what moves to make but why those moves are important. I tailor explanations to each student’s level and style, ensuring concepts are clear and relatable. Flexibility allows me to adapt lessons based on the unique needs and learning pace of each student. Whether a beginner is taking their first steps or an advanced player is refining complex tactics, I modify my approach to maximise engagement and progress. This flexibility also extends to integrating relevant subjects such as logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and problem-solving skills that complement Chess learning. Integrity is vital in fostering trust. I set realistic goals and provide honest feedback, celebrating improvements while addressing areas for growth. I hold myself accountable to maintaining high teaching standards and creating a respectful, encouraging learning environment. Accountability helps students stay committed. Together, we set clear goals and track progress regularly. I encourage disciplined practice habits while making lessons enjoyable, so students remain motivated and confident in their abilities. Positivity is the heart of my teaching style. I focus on building self-confidence and resilience, helping students embrace challenges as opportunities to learn. Chess is a journey, and I aim to make it rewarding and fun every step of the way.
