About Alayah
I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master of Science in Cognitive Science, and I have 6 years of experience teaching chess to students of different ages and skill levels. My interest in chess began with a curiosity about strategy and problem solving, which gradually developed into a passion for teaching. Over time, I have worked with many learners, helping them understand the game in a clear and structured way while building confidence in their abilities.
My teaching approach focuses on clarity, patience, and consistent progress. I believe students learn best when they understand the reasoning behind moves, so I guide them step by step through each concept. I use simple explanations, practical examples, and regular practice sessions to help students improve steadily. I also encourage independent thinking, allowing students to analyze positions and make decisions on their own while receiving support when needed.
Outside of teaching, I continue studying chess strategies, solving puzzles, and analyzing games to improve my own understanding. This helps me bring fresh ideas into my lessons and keep them engaging. Teaching chess is very rewarding for me because I enjoy helping students develop strong thinking skills, improve their focus, and gain confidence in their abilities.

Chess lessons become more effective when students clearly understand the purpose behind every move they make on the board. My lessons focus on helping students build strong fundamentals such as piece movement, board awareness, and simple strategies in a structured and easy-to-follow way. I explain each concept step by step so students can understand the logic behind decisions rather than just memorizing moves. Every session includes guided practice, puzzle solving, and game analysis, which help students improve their thinking skills and confidence. I create a calm and encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable exploring ideas and learning from mistakes without pressure.
Beginners start with understanding basic rules, piece movements, and simple checkmates. Intermediate learners work on tactics, openings, combinations, and improving their ability to plan moves. Advanced students focus on deeper strategy, positional play, and analyzing full games in detail. I adjust each lesson according to the student’s level and learning pace, ensuring steady and comfortable progress. Regular practice and feedback help students strengthen their understanding and improve consistently.
Chess also helps students develop patience, concentration, and logical thinking skills that are useful in many areas of life. As students improve, they become more confident in making decisions and solving problems. My goal is to make chess learning simple, enjoyable, and meaningful so that students stay motivated and continue to grow.
