Learn more about me and my teaching philosophy!

Education is more than just grades and exams—it’s about self-discovery, deep learning, and growth. I enjoy collaborating with students and families who prioritize meaningful education and personal development over merely checking boxes.

Together, we can uncover your strengths, tackle challenges, and find your unique path. For me, mentoring is about helping students discover their life’s purpose, not just mastering chemistry concepts.

Chemistry has been my passion since high school, and my mission is to share that enthusiasm with my students. I graduated from the prestigious Jagiellonian University in Kraków, where I earned my credentials in chemistry education.

My journey includes 4 years as a high school teacher and 6 years as a dedicated tutor. I’ve worked in diverse educational systems, including:

- IB Diploma Programme
- Dalton model
- Conventional Polish curriculum
- Democratic education

What sets me apart?
My holistic approach to teaching. I aim to show my students that chemistry is more than just a subject—it’s a way to understand the world and fuel personal growth.

My goal is to make chemistry not just understandable, but inspiring! I specialize in working with students in the IB Diploma Programme, though I welcome learners from all chemistry backgrounds.

I focus on cultivating skills, critical thinking, and a love for science that goes beyond rote memorization or exam preparation. My lessons are enriched with:

- Interactive simulations
- Demonstrations and carefully curated videos
- Reflective discussions using an interactive whiteboard

Each session is tailored with clear objectives, but I remain flexible to address your immediate needs. Expect a learning environment where constructive feedback fuels growth and helps you gain confidence.

  • When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?

I needed to pick a university course, so I chose nanotechnology, because I thought it's cool. Chemistry was a requirement for that, so I started learning chemistry and here I am :).
  • Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).

Chemistry is a science of matter, human body, forces that power the sun, life and everything visible. The most interesting topic of the subject is optical isomerism - virtually identical molecules being their mirror reflections have totally opposing biological properties. Just like the left glove doesn't fit the right hand, some molecules work in our bodies only when they are "the right fit". Even though both hands are the same, they are not. I also like to present general rules that can be used to determine all chemical structures. It's very helpful for students to have one set of rules governing their content.
  • Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?

Saying that I am a chemistry tutor to my friends they often reply "Chemistry, wow... I liked it but my teacher was awful". That is very sad to me. So far I have not been that teacher and I score mostly positive reviews. Even though my teachers weren't particularly inspiring to me!
  • What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?

Being a tutor is easy - you just need to know the content and have basic communication skills. What I consider myself is a mentor looking deeper into the person and its educational process. I open the space for people to experience their frustrations and doubts. Caring for my students is of most importance for me - without it, chatGPT can easily substitute me.
  • Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.

When I first started learning chemistry, I needed to do it on my own. My aim was to get to an engineering academy where chemistry is a "means to an end". One day I got so lost in thinking about a particular reaction that I forgot I was driving. That moment I knew I needed to pursue chemistry as my passion.
  • What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?

The biggest difficulty as an educator is at the same time the thing that makes me go the most. I love the opportunity to put myself in another person's shoes and think about their thinking. Usually it's very difficult to understand how others are understanding (or not).
  • Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?

Probably the part I'm most passionate about is organic reaction mechanism. It's striking to me that there are so many various possibilities of how reactions can occur. I really enjoy putting somewhat of a comic-book story of electrons, nucleophiles and acids.
  • What makes you a Superprof (besides answering this interview questions :-P)?

My dedication to a pedagogical approach makes me a "superprof". I find that many teachers are just passing knowledge instead of actually trying to know the person. I facilitate conditions where deeper development is possible. To my surprise, many students decided to take up chemistry studies themselves thanks to our collaboration.
