About Ben
I am an early career teacher with a passion for delivering high quality lessons, whether I am inside the classroom, or tutoring online. I am empathetic, approachable, and have strong subject knowledge, having achieved a degree in chemistry from the University of Hull. Prior to becoming a teacher, I was a chemist in industry, so my knowledge is grounded in practical applications. My goal is to create a positive learning environment in which you are able to grow and develop, ultimately allowing you to reach your full potential.

I am a qualified teacher with a passion for high quality, reflective, evidence based practice, and a proven track record of delivering top results. In all of my lessons, I create a positive learning environment in which you feel comfortable, allowing you to achieve your full potential. My use of metacognitive strategies allows my students to not just excel in their subject of choice, but develop their ability to learn in general.
My lessons take place online over zoom and last for an hour. I appreciate the practical nature of the sciences, and my use of video demonstrations and links to industry contextualise learning to boost your understanding and develop your subject knowledge.
I can tutor ages 11-16, with a focus on GCSE. I adapt all of my lessons to meet the needs of individual learners, allowing all of my students to overcome barriers to learning.
I have a degree in chemistry from the University of Hull, a PGCE from the University of Sunderland, and have achieved QTS with GORSE SCITT, an outstanding teacher training provider. I carry an enhanced DBS check.
