About Andi
I am a science teacher and have been for the past 5 years. I love to learn, and I am partially through around 10 books at the moment. I recently got engaged on a camping trip. I have a dog named Sage. She is a pit bull mix and the sweetest thing. I wanted to become a teacher to make connections and to lessen the burden that students face learning the abstract scientific concepts that are covered.

At the beginning of a lesson, I always try to assess prior understanding and a student's background knowledge of a subject. I then present an outline of information and go into detail after reviewing the overall concept. I like to tie in information from other subjects and help students connect the dots between various concepts they are learning. Building off of a foundation of knowledge is very useful. I also ask students questions as I go through each item to ensure they are engaged and did not get lost. This helps avoid back-tracking and losing time. My tutoring is unique in that I am a teacher of these topics during the day and have access to tools such as chemicals and a lab to show demonstrations or videos. High school students are my target population as that is the level of coursework I teach; however, middle school students are also welcome.
