About Matthias
Hey! My name is Matthias, and I am from Dallas, Texas. I am majoring in Chemical Engineering and Computational Physics at Rice University and have always been passionate about helping others understand complex ideas in clear and engaging ways. Outside of teaching, I love DJing, playing bass and guitar, soccer, and surfing whenever I get the chance. With over five years of experience teaching and mentoring, I have led classes in chemistry, physics, AP courses, the SAT Math section, Spanish, and computer programming through summer programs.

My teaching philosophy is built on the idea that the best way to learn is through practice and application. I guide students to actively engage with the material—solving problems, analyzing examples, and applying what they’ve learned in creative ways. Each lesson moves at an elevated pace as students build confidence and mastery, but always in a supportive and enjoyable environment. I believe entertainment and curiosity are essential for true understanding, so I bring energy and relevance to every topic to make learning fun and meaningful. My goal is to help students see the purpose behind what they’re learning—so every formula, concept, or challenge feels connected to something valuable and real.
