About Carey

I have been a Chartered Accountant for nearly a decade, during this time I have been fortunate enough to spend 4 years in public practice as a senior accountant in private enterprise. Following this tenure I moved on to education where I became a facilitator, session leader, marker and lead panelist for the CPAWSB program for all modules for the last 5 years.

In addition to this role, 2 years ago I began teaching into the full-time Accounting curriculum at a post-secondary institution.

I teach a variety of roles and my knowledge of most Accounting and Finance areas is vast, I intend to use this experience to make your journey through whichever Accounting program or designation you have chosen a smooth and enlightening process. CPAWSB:

Core 1 - Financial reporting and accounting methodology
Core 2 - Cost management, cash flow analysis, business valuations, financial analysis and variance/ratio analysis
Audit - High level audit risk identification, analysis and procedure generation. Engagement analysis, procurement and completion
Finance - High level financial analysis, discounted cash flow business valuations, asset based valuations, WACC analysis and calculation
Performance Management - Governance strategy, performance based compensation strategy, contribution margin analysis, present value investment analysis
Taxation - Complex taxation issues for business and personal taxes including full T1/T2 schedule reporting, calculations and analysis
Capstone 1 - Full comprehensive case analysis and presentation preparation, inclusive of all CPAWSB modules technical and enabling competencies

About the lesson

My methodology is quite simple for Accounting and follows the method of creating a three pronged approach to analyzing all questions and case studies.

1) Issue Identification
2) Issue Analysis
3) Issue Recommendation

Within all three of these areas are skills, talents, technical and enabling competencies that must be learned to easily tackle all types of questions. This method can be easily utilized for most types of questions, whether based in Accounting or general life.

I will walk students through this methodology using case examples, but most importantly trying to create easier and faster ways to achieve an optimal result. Based on experience of expectations from both clients, educational programs and licensing exams I can adequately help the anxiety and stress that come along with comprehensive Accounting/Finance and caste style questions.
