About Aarabhi

Welcome to Your Online Math Tutoring Journey!

Hello Learners (or future Math Masters) and Parents,

I’m Aarabhi Narasimhan, and I am thrilled to be your guide in mastering mathematics. Here’s a little bit about me and what you can expect from our tutoring sessions.

I hold advanced certifications in Linear Algebra, Calculus, and Probability & Statistics, and a Virtual Teacher Certification, equipping me with the best online teaching practices. Additionally, I am a holder of a qualifying law degree, graduated with honours, and currently work full-time as a legal advisor. Despite my legal career, I have a strong passion for teaching and have been tutoring for years, including volunteering across South Asian countries.

Teaching Approach

My teaching approach is student-centered, focusing on personalised lessons tailored to individual learning styles and goals. I believe in interactive learning sessions that encourage questions and active participation. By connecting mathematical concepts to real-world scenarios, I make learning relevant and engaging.

I use a blended learning technique that combines asynchronous resources, such as pre-recorded video lectures and interactive quizzes, with synchronous live classes via Zoom for real-time interaction and support. Additionally, I incorporate gamification elements like online leaderboards and badges to make learning fun and motivating.

Typical Lesson Plan

A typical lesson on solving quadratic equations will include:

1. Introduction: Quick review of previous concepts and an overview of the day’s lesson.
2. Instruction: Engaging video lecture and live demonstration.
3. Practice: Interactive quizzes and group activities in breakout rooms.
4. Independent Work: Assignments on Google Classroom and project work.
5. Conclusion: Recap key points and preview the next lesson.
6. Assessments include ongoing quizzes and participation in discussions (formative) as well as assignments and project evaluations (summative) to measure understanding.

What Sets Me Apart

I provide personalised attention with one-on-one support tailored to individual needs and regular feedback to help students continuously improve. My professionalism ensures clear communication and timely responses, fostering a supportive and encouraging learning environment. Using innovative techniques, I combine the best of online and traditional teaching methods, enhancing learning with technology and gamification.

Who Are My Lessons For?

My lessons are ideal for middle school to high school students, specifically those preparing for the Cambridge IGCSE exams, as well as Year 9 to 10 students following the Pearson EdExcel Cambridge and IB curricula. My focus areas include algebra, geometry, and exam preparation.

I am committed to helping you succeed and making math a subject you enjoy. Let’s achieve your goals together! Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or to schedule a session.

Best regards,
Aarabhi (Rayne)

Part2: A Typical Online Lesson Plan

Lesson Title: Solving Quadratic Equations

Objective: Students will be able to solve quadratic equations using factoring, the quadratic formula, and completing the square, and apply these methods to real-world problems.

Materials:

• Computer/tablet
• Internet access
• Access to Google Classroom and Teams

Structure:

1. Introduction (10 minutes):

- Welcome and review previous lesson and objectives through a quick poll.

- Brief overview of today’s lesson and its real-world applications via a short video clip.

2. Direct Instruction (20 minutes):

- Pre-Recorded Video Lecture: Explaining the three methods for solving quadratic equations.

- Live Demonstration: Solving a few example problems on a shared whiteboard during a Teams session.

3. Guided Practice (20 minutes):

- Interactive Quiz: Embedded in the video lecture, allowing students to practice solving problems with instant feedback.

- Breakout Rooms: In Teams, where students work in pairs to solve problems collaboratively.

4. Independent Practice (20 minutes):

- Google Classroom Assignment: Completing a worksheet with quadratic equations to solve using the different methods taught.

- Project Work: Starting a real-world application project, such as designing a parabolic arch, and discussing initial ideas in an online discussion forum.

5. Conclusion (10 minutes):
- Recap key points of the lesson through a summary slide.

- Address any questions or concerns via live chat.

- Preview the next lesson with a short summary video.

6. Assessment:
