About Laural
Hello! My name is Laural and I was a Spanish Education and Elementary-Middle Education dual-major in college, as well as a Spanish Linguistics minor. I also had the opportunity to study abroad, and so I lived in a little city outside of Madrid for six months to practice my Spanish!
I currently work in a bilingual elementary school dual-immersion program, but I have also worked as a Spanish interpreter, translator, and English Language Learner teacher assistant in the past.
I love speaking in Spanish and teaching! Two of my favorite things (besides coffee of course!)

Hola! My name is Laural and I am a Spanish teacher. As world language standards have shifted, studies have shown the best way to learn (and retain!) a language is through immersion-like experiences: holding conversations, hearing stories, consistent exposure to the desired language. After all, when little kids are learning a language, they aren't studying verb charts!
My goal for my students, regardless of previous Spanish knowledge, is to be exposed authentically to the language and be comfortable using the language! It breaks my heart when people say they took Spanish for several years in high school, but remember. nothing. Then what was the point? Let's learn, practice, and use Spanish so you feel confident being able to use it outside our "classroom" - that's the goal, isn't it?
