About Shirley Milena
Hola, I’m originally from Colombia and now live in the U.S. with my wonderful family. I’m married and have three children—ages 19, 14, and 11—who keep life full and joyful. I love sharing my culture with others, whether that’s through language, literature, or food. Right now, I’m reading María by Jorge Isaacs, a classic 19th-century Colombian novel known for its poetic language and emotional depth. The story explores themes of love, loss, and nostalgia, and it's an important work in Latin American literature. In the summer, I enjoy having a little more time to cook my favorite Colombian recipes and reconnect with the flavors and traditions of home.

I design my lessons with you in mind. Every session is student-centered, which means I focus on your goals, your interests, and the way you learn best. My job is not just to teach Spanish—it’s to help you feel confident using it in real life.
Whether you're preparing for an exam, traveling, improving your writing, or just want to hold a conversation without stress, I’ll tailor our lessons to meet your needs. We’ll cover grammar, reading, and writing—but always in a way that feels natural and connected to real situations.
Expect engaging lessons with topics that matter to you—not boring drills or one-size-fits-all lessons. My goal is to make learning Spanish practical, enjoyable, and meaningful—so that you don’t just memorize words, you use them.
