About Patience

My name is Patience James, and I am a dedicated educator passionate about helping children learn with confidence, understanding, and curiosity.

Over the last 6 years, I have worked with learners across Nigeria, UK, US, Australia, and Canada through online and physical tutoring, supporting children across different academic levels and learning needs. I teach Mathematics and Science to grades 1-9 learners, including homeschool students and children preparing for examinations such as 11+, SAT, BECE, and Common Entrance.

One thing that matters greatly to me is creating a safe learning environment where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and trying again. I especially enjoy helping learners who struggle with confidence or anxiety around subjects like Mathematics, guiding them patiently until concepts begin to make sense and learning becomes less frightening.

Beyond academics, I care deeply about the overall growth of children. I believe teaching is not only about improving grades, but also about shaping confident, curious, and resilient young learners.

About the lesson

My tutoring approach focuses on understanding how each child learns and creating a safe, supportive environment where they can think, ask questions, and build confidence. I believe children learn best when teaching is patient, interactive, and paced according to their individual needs.

I use a step-by-step method, breaking complex topics into simple, relatable parts. I also incorporate real-life examples, guided practice, and questioning techniques to strengthen understanding and encourage independent thinking. For learners with Maths anxiety or low confidence, I focus on rebuilding their belief in their ability to learn.

Lessons typically last between 1 hour and 1 hour 30 minutes, depending on the learner’s age, attention span, and academic needs.

I teach Mathematics and Science to grades 1-9 learners, including homeschool students and those preparing for exams such as 11+, SAT, BECE, and Common Entrance. I have experience working with learners across Nigeria, the UK, the US, and Canada through both online and in-person tutoring.

Beyond academics, I am passionate about helping children grow into confident, curious, and resilient learners.
