About Alisa

I am an experienced math educator with over 14 years of working with secondary students (grades 6–12), dedicated to helping students think deeply, build confidence, and find meaning in mathematics. I believe that all students are capable of success when given the right support, opportunities, and environment to explore.

My teaching approach is grounded in student-centered and project-based learning principles. I design lessons that encourage curiosity, problem-solving, and real-world connections, allowing students to actively engage with mathematical concepts rather than passively receive them. By guiding students through exploration and inquiry, I help them develop both conceptual understanding and confidence in their abilities.

I am known for creating a supportive, engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and growing as learners. My goal is to help every student not only succeed in math, but also see themselves as capable and confident problem-solvers.

About the lesson

My Approach as a Tutor
As a licensed middle and high school math teacher with experience in a variety of settings, I focus on making math clear, engaging, and confidence-building. I adapt my instruction to different learning styles, breaking down complex concepts into manageable steps while encouraging active participation.

Teaching Methods & Techniques
I use guided practice, real-world connections, and clear, step-by-step explanations. I continuously check for understanding and adjust my approach so each student can construct their own understanding of the math in front of them.

Typical Lesson Structure
Lessons begin with a question or prompt to activate prior knowledge. Students then engage in interactive, student-centered exploration of new concepts, followed by guided practice and application to deepen understanding and reinforce skills.
