About Jason

You deserve a tutor who not only understands the subject, but also understands you. With over 25 years of teaching experience and certifications in both Mathematics (K–12) and English Language Development, I bring a calm, supportive, and effective approach to every lesson. I hold a Master’s in Mathematics Education from Lesley University and a Master’s in TESOL, and I’ve successfully helped hundreds of students—from struggling learners to high achievers—reach their academic goals. My tutoring sessions are personalized, focused, and encouraging. Whether we’re working on math concepts, writing skills, reading strategies, or English language support, I meet students where they are and guide them forward with patience and clarity. I pride myself on being reliable, respectful, and responsive. About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is student-centered, supportive, and focused on building both confidence and understanding. I begin by identifying each student’s current level, strengths, and challenges, and then tailor lessons to meet their specific needs. I use a variety of methods depending on the subject—this includes visual models for math, graphic organizers for writing, and sentence frames or word banks for English learners. I also use guided practice, real-world examples, and regular check-ins to make sure students feel successful at every step.

A typical tutoring session begins with a quick warm-up or review to activate prior knowledge. We then move into a focused mini-lesson on a new concept, followed by guided practice and independent work. I always end with a short reflection or goal-setting task to reinforce what we’ve covered and prepare for the next session. For younger students, I keep the pacing active and incorporate hands-on tools and visuals; for older learners, I focus more on academic vocabulary, multi-step problems, and study strategies.

What sets me apart is my 26+ years of classroom experience, Master’s degrees in both Mathematics Education and TESOL, and my ability to explain things clearly while making students feel safe to make mistakes and grow. My lessons are for students in Grades 3 through 10 who need help in math, reading, writing, or English language development—especially those who benefit from individualized support, multilingual scaffolds, or a calm and encouraging approach.
