About the lesson

Hello! My name is 소연 (Soyeun), and I am a passionate Korean language tutor dedicated to helping students achieve their Korean learning goals in a practical, enjoyable, and effective way.

Originally from South Korea, I have been living in the United Kingdom since 2013. Through my experience of living and working in an English-speaking environment, I have developed a strong understanding of the challenges that English speakers often face when learning Korean. This allows me to explain Korean language concepts clearly and effectively while creating lessons that are tailored to each student's needs.

I completed both my undergraduate and postgraduate studies in South Korea. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Economics and a Master's degree in Economics and Finance. My academic background enables me to support not only general Korean learners but also students and professionals who are interested in business Korean, academic Korean, or professional communication.

I am currently completing the Korean Language Teacher Certification (Level 2), a nationally recognised teaching qualification in South Korea, which I expect to receive in October 2026.

Whether you are a complete beginner, an intermediate learner looking to improve your fluency, or a student preparing for the TOPIK exam, I can provide lessons tailored to your individual goals.

I specialise in:

One of my strengths is providing detailed TOPIK writing feedback. I can help students improve their writing by correcting grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, and organisation while explaining how to write more natural and effective Korean.

My standard lesson length is 60 minutes, but lesson duration can be adjusted through discussion depending on your schedule and learning objectives.

I believe language learning should be connected to real life. Rather than relying only on textbooks, I incorporate authentic Korean materials such as news articles, television programmes, interviews, podcasts, and online content into my lessons. This allows students to learn practical Korean used by native speakers while gaining a deeper understanding of Korean culture and contemporary society.

My lessons are student-centred and designed around your interests, pace, and goals. I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes, asking questions, and actively using Korean.

Whether your goal is TOPIK success, fluent conversation, business communication, travel, study, or enjoying Korean dramas and K-pop without subtitles, I will create a personalised learning plan to help you achieve it.
