About Lisa
Hello and let me introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Lopez and I have a bachelor's degree as a physical therapist assistant and a master's degree in teaching from Walden University. I have 14 years with teaching experience in special education, language arts, social studies and teaching English language learners. As a child of immigrants who came to America without knowing English, I saw first hand what frustrations, prejudices and limitations non-English speakers face. This experience led me to earn my TEFL -120 hour teaching certificate. I began with an online teaching company teaching young children in China. Later, I began teaching English for social studies content and communication in the middle school setting. I am ESOL certified in the state of Georgia and am also fluent in Spanish.

As a tutor for English language learners, my first priority is to familiarize myself with your preferred method of learning as well as your goals and interests. My lesson plans are based on your goals whether it be improving your conversational skills, reading and comprehension, business English or neutralizing your accent. What sets me apart from other teachers is my flexibility as well as my student centered vs teacher centered approach. I will mix in fun conversation and different topics to encourage verbal expression as well as comprehension of the English language. I aim to tutor students of all ages and levels of English especially those who want to improve their conversation, pronunciation and reading in an unintimidating environment.
