About Lumen

With over a decade of experience teaching English both internationally and in Canada, I understand what it takes to succeed in high-stakes exams like CELPIP, IELTS, TOEFL, OSSLT, and OOPT. My experience spans working with students from diverse backgrounds, helping each one reach their personal best. Every lesson is crafted to inspire confidence and mastery of English, guiding students through proven strategies and practical tips that go beyond memorization, focusing on genuine understanding and skill development.

My classes are known for their supportive and motivating environment. I aim to make learning not just effective but enjoyable, encouraging students to feel confident and empowered as they progress. As a bilingual English teacher fluent in Mandarin, I’m particularly skilled at supporting Mandarin-speaking students, bridging language gaps to ensure that every concept is fully understood.

I am passionate about my students’ success, and I take pride in seeing them achieve their academic and career goals. If you’re ready to take your English skills to the next level with a professional and dedicated tutor, I’d love to support you in your journey.

My approach to tutoring is centered on creating an engaging and interactive learning environment that builds confidence and sharpens language skills. I use a combination of customized lesson plans, practice tests, and real-world applications to reinforce core concepts and strategies for each exam. I believe in a student-centered approach, tailoring lessons to individual learning styles and goals.

Each lesson plan typically begins with a review of past lessons, followed by targeted exercises that focus on essential skills for each section of the exam—whether it's reading comprehension, listening, speaking, or writing. I incorporate practice questions that mirror the actual exam format, ensuring students are well-prepared and familiar with the test structure. I also provide personalized feedback to help students identify areas for improvement and build upon their strengths.

What sets me apart is my diverse experience, from teaching high school students in Canada to supporting college students in China, along with my fluency in Mandarin, which aids students who are native Mandarin speakers. My lessons are ideal for anyone preparing for CELPIP, IELTS, TOEFL, OSSLT, or OOPT exams, from high school to college level, and particularly beneficial for those aiming for high scores in their English proficiency assessments.
