About Carla

- What kind of experience do you have?

I have wider experience teaching Brass instruments (trumpet and trombone), music theory and coaching chamber music groups.
I currently teach Brass at Borough Music School (BMS). I teach one-to-one lessons and group classes. I also lead the Brass Band and Wind Band, focusing on ensemble playing and team work skills.

About the lesson

I'm an energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils.

- Which subject(s) do you teach?

I specialise in classical trombone, this is my main subject. However I have a strong knowledge and experience in brass teaching and technique, so I teach other brass instruments as well. I can lead ensembles and chamber music groups. I'm also able to teach music theory at any level. I have experience preparing students for ABRSM grade exams.

- Tell me about your qualifications.

Guildhall School of Music & Drama: BMus (Hons) Classical Trombone.
Conservatorio Superior de MÃºsica de AragÃ³n, Spain: degree equivalent to BMus in Classical Trombone Teaching.

- How much do you charge?

My standard rate is £35 per hour. Consultation lesson will be free of charge.

- Where do you teach?

I can teach at my home in North London. I am also willing to travel to the students' homes within a reasonable distance.

- When are you available?

I'm flexible, committed and very organized. Lessons and classes times are scheduled in advanced.

- Which ages and levels do you teach?

All ages and levels.

- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?

ABRSM and Trinity grade exams mainly.

- Describe your arrangements for online tutoring.

I can use Skype for online tutoring purposes.

- Do you have a personal message for students?

As a trained classical trombonist I fully believe that music provides children/adults with valuable life skills and the means to develop their individual talents to the full, regardless of their ultimate direction.
My aim is to provide beginner students with an enjoyable first experience of music making, a good grounding in basic skills and a firm technical understanding on their chosen instrument.
