About Rachel
I have a First Class BA (Hons) and an MPhil (Distinction) in English from the University of Cambridge. My specialisms are in the 20th-century novel and 18th-century poetry, particularly examining gender and philosophy. I am excited to share my enthusiasm for my subject with pupils as I know first-hand the power of an inspiring English teacher. I have a lot of theatre experience, including Drama A Level, so I particularly enjoy specialist the drama and tragedy aspects of English Literature papers and play set texts. I am keen to share my experiences with university admissions to help others on their academic journey.
I began tutoring in my gap year, when I coached GCSE and A Level pupils in English Literature and Language. Since then, I have also found offering mock interviews and personal statement coaching rewarding.

I plan my lessons with each individual student in mind to suit their needs and ensure the best possible outcome. My approach to teaching provides a balance between working hard to meet exam criteria and encouraging creativity and a passion for the subject, and lessons will often be as, if not more, discursive as they are informative and directive. Students can either come to me for specific help in areas in which they are struggling (such as coursework or terminology), or I will plan a series of lessons based on covering the curriculum and exam board requirements.
