About James

I have tutored students from the age of 4-17 in Maths and Physics for the past three years. One of my greatest successes was with a GCSE Physics student. I managed to raise his grade from a D to a high B and inspired him to take Physics at A-Level. I am personally very proficient at Maths and am confident that I can explain material to suit different levels. I achieved a first class in my undergraduate degree - graduating 14th out of a year of 250 students and in my final years, I specialised in Quantum Physics, Black Holes, General Relativity and String Theory!

About the lesson

I like to adapt my lessons to suit the student, which could be lots of repetition, drawing more diagrams or using real world examples. I’m patient, understanding and keen to give my students a plan and regular mini recaps to ensure that they are attaining all the information. I aim to inspire my students, not just teach. I know that a strong Maths background can be very helpful for the future. I do this by showing my passion for Maths as well as lots of positive reinforcement to ensure the student maintains attention and gains confidence. I am also happy to provide additional notes, resources or questions to allow for my students to keep progressing in between our sessions.

I know James from studying Maths at Cambridge together. He's an unbelievably smart guy who would always explain things super well when I didn't understand something. Would highly recommend to anyone

Lessons with James are informative and he gives me confidence in the areas I struggle with most. Before every lesson, he would prepare the material and give me great notes on how to improve my maths. I would definitely highly recommend him.

I’ve known James since University and have witnessed first-hand just how hard-working, organised and committed to what he does he is. He is never short of patience or positivity and I think that his passion and genuine love for mathematics and physics, combined with his warm and sunny personality makes him an ideal tutor. I could not recommend him enough.
