About Mat
I’ve been teaching 1-on-1 and group classes for 3 years, with enthusiasm and energy. The path that led me here began in 2009, when I got the FCE and CAE certificates. Shortly after that, at 19 years of age, I left Poland and moved to the UK to study and work.
I lived there for 10 years, immersed in British culture, managing to hone my English to the point of being undistinguishable from a native. Towards the end of my stay, I got the Cambridge teaching certificate – CELTA – and began giving 1-on-1 classes to Spanish speakers in Manchester.
I moved to Bilbao in February 2020 with the goal to help students of English get as much out of the language as I’ve had the luck to! Now, I’ve become a language learner again with Spanish (and a little of Euskera)!
I’m sure my personal and work experiences equip me well to help you achieve your English goals!

My method is based on my own language learning experiences and its main objective is immersion. I help my students find moments in the day and means to watch/read/listen to things in English regularly. Together, we take advantage of the endless supply of podcasts, videos, series, on-line news media etc. to find the thing that interests and inspires them.
From that material I generate conversations and extract vocabulary & grammar that’s most pressing and useful. We practice other skills, too, if need be (like writing, for example). Everything in a personalised context.
I publish all the material covered in classes in a private portal (Google Classroom) that’s theirs to access and review, even after we’ve finished working together!
