I recently moved to Oregon. Jake has helped me so much in being comfortable in English. I now feel so much more confident speaking English and I’m able to join some local groups to meet new people in the area. He is very patient and kind. He makes me feel good learning English.

Jake is AWESOME! I met him in CA at a gathering with his wife. He mentioned to me that he tutored English. I had just moved to the USA. I had basic knowledge of English but having fast conversations or things where "slang" was thrown in was challenging.
He was extremely patient and made me very comfortable and at ease. He asked me what I wanted to focus on. I just needed more confidence and not to feel embarrassed about asking someone to explain something. We talk about basic life, the Olympics, and many things we can connect or not. We both learn a lot! I got to explain exciting things about my country as well.
He was born and raised in Southern California, it is great having someone with local fluency.
He is very respectful casually brings up his wife occasionally and compares funny stories from her when she was learning. It made me feel at ease as a female knowing a male teacher was committed to his wife and has no intentions otherwise. We could even talk about flirt/dating culture without feeling like he was flirting with me, purely giving me advice. No lines were ever crossed to make me feel uncomfortable.
I highly recommend Jake! He has a great sense of humor, can explain sarcasm that sometimes gets lost on me, and he never judged me. It was a very comfortable learning experience. On occasion, we still have lessons for brushing up or any other questions.

Jake has tutored me in CA in person while learning English. We went over the basics at the beginning to determine where my knowledge was and where I felt comfortable.
He provided so much insight! The English language is confusing, but he was very laid back and not critical at all. I learned a lot of English phrases that do not translate clearly and I felt very comfortable talking with him.
