About Alex
I'm a Computer Engineering student at BYU, which means algebra and trig aren't just something I learned once and forgot — I use them all the time in my own coursework. That keeps the concepts fresh and lets me explain why something like a logarithm or a trig identity actually matters, instead of just how to solve it. I also focus on the specific step you're stuck on rather than re-explaining a whole topic from scratch, so sessions stay efficient and actually target what's tripping you up. I've had lots of experience helping my younger siblings in their math classes, and I'd love to help you to!

Hi! I'm Alex
I help students stop guessing and start actually understanding math — whether that means catching up, getting ahead, or just finally getting why a method works.
How I Teach
I don't just show the steps — I ask questions that get you thinking through the logic yourself. That way you're not just copying a process, you're building the kind of understanding that sticks (and shows up on tests).
A Typical Session
We start by talking through what you've covered in class and where things got confusing. From there, I explain the concept behind the problem — not just the steps — and we work through an example together, with you doing most of the solving while I catch mistakes as they happen. Once it starts clicking, you'll practice a few on your own while I'm still there to help, and we'll wrap up with a quick recap and a couple problems to try before next time.
