About Richard
After many years working as a senior private tutor, mentor and educational advisor in London, I moved to Devon to set up Kirkcaldy Bell - an educational consultancy providing expert private tuition and mentoring in the South West of England and online.
I hold a B.A. in French and German from King's College, London; a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the College of Law, London; a BSc. in Banking and International Finance from CASS Business School; an M.A. in TV and Current Affairs Journalism from City University; and a CELTA qualification from International House.
My specialist areas of tuition include Business Studies and Law. I also have extensive experience helping students gain entrance to their chosen university - guiding them through the often confusing University Admissions process and helping them to put together successful job applications upon graduation. I also offer professional proofreading and mentoring.

Students learn best by doing and so my methodology is accordingly practical. From the very first lesson, I set exercises designed to dynamically stretch skills, expand knowledge and improve confidence. Practice makes perfect, there is no magic formula!
Where I am different, however, is that I bring my theoretical knowledge and practical experience to bear on the lesson for the benefit of the student. My skill lies in orientation, guidance and the teaching of perfect technique.
