About Alex

It is indisputable that some people are divinely destined for specific careers in this life. I have no doubt that I’m a career teacher been destined to impact knowledge to young people.
I read pure science - Elective Maths, Physics, and Chemistry - at the Senior High School. After successful completion I attended a 3- Year Post Secondary Teacher Training College and was awarded a Teacher Certificate ‘A’. The training at the college moulded my personality and shaped my career as a professional teacher. Besides this noble certificate I hold a Bachelor of Science (BSc.) degree in Chemistry and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil.) in Materials Science and Engineering, and a prospective PhD student.
I have over a decade experience of teaching the Cambridge International GCSE O’ and A ‘Level Chemistry and Physics, Pearson Edexcel International GCSE O’ and A’ Level Physics and Chemistry and other related specification in the United Kingdom, and the American Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT).
I have developed a framework for tutoring (FFT): planning and preparation; creating an enabling learning environment; principled teaching and learning experience. The outcome of this FFT has proven to be efficient and yielded excellent results over the years.
Planning and preparation: demonstration of in-depth knowledge of content and pedagogy, valuing students, clearly stating measurable and achievable learning objectives, effective use of teaching and learning materials, planning coherent instruction, and designing and analysing assessment.
Enabling learning environment: cultivating and affirming respectful environment, purposeful teaching and learning environment, rewarding positive student behaviour by way of praises and complementary statements. This has fostered effective teaching and learning environment.
Principled teaching: I engage in reflective practice, keeping track of students’ progress, and engaging parents/guardians in maximising the potentials of my students.
Learning experience: I employ questioning, leading-answers, and discussion techniques, engaging students’ attention, using assessment for learning and responding flexibly to students needs.
I have tutored and mentored students of diverse backgrounds, different levels of intelligence and transformed Grade ‘C’ students (core grade achievers) to excellent A* students. Leveraging the COVID-19 menace I offer online tuition to students across three continents; Europe, Asia (Middle East), and America. Per my training and experience, I am able to assess a student in our maiden meeting, rank the student on a scale of 1- 10 , therefore, adopting and meting out strategies; using models, analogies tailored at transforming the student to an A* status.
