About Kay

I graduated from Temple University with a degree in Spanish literature. Upon completing my degree, I began teaching Spanish in a middle school in the USA. I relocated overseas and continued teaching in an international school first as a middle school Spanish teacher, then later, after earning my IB certificate, at the secondary school level. I've travelled extensively to several Spanish speaking countries for volunteer work to both teach English (my native language) and Spanish. I enjoy teaching and I will forever be a lifelong lover of learning and foreign languages.

About the lesson

Perhaps you've taken a few Spanish classes in school before, but you've forgotten how to string together sentences and express yourself in a meaningful way. As a Spanish teacher of over 10 years, I've worked with school-age children with foundational language skills and helped them to grow from beginner to intermediate and advanced communication in the Spanish language. This communication includes reading, writing, listening and speaking. With my students, I review familiar topics with authentic materials such as songs, news, realia, books and several text sources. This way, the learning experience becomes more crystallized and memorable.

Depending on my student's level, I like to craft out an individualized lesson plan to suit their needs and interests. So for example, if my student is working in the medical industry and desires to converse with clients more effectively, I will begin a lesson with frequently used dialogue in a given medical setting and we will discuss the vocabulary and expression forms before we begin to practice together with some role play scenarios. We will adjust the lesson intensity as needed to satisfy the student's capabilities.
