About Catherine

I'm a native English speaker from London with a love of travel, culture and meeting people from different backgrounds. I've travelled extensively around the world, including spending six months travelling through South America. This gave me a real appreciation for different cultures and also an understanding of what it's like to communicate in a language that isn't your first. I studied English Language at A Level, achieving an A, before going on to study at Manchester Metropolitan University, where I graduated with First-Class Honours. I've since completed and passed my TEFL qualification. My professional background is in the creative industries, particularly fashion, film and television, so I love talking about everything from travel and culture to fashion, films, music and everyday life. I'm naturally friendly, curious and easy to talk to, and I really enjoy getting to know people from different parts of the world. I'm looking forward to meeting students and having interesting conversations while helping them become more confident with their English.

About the lesson

I like my lessons to be relaxed, engaging and tailored to each student's individual goals. I believe one of the best ways to improve your English is through conversation, so I encourage students to speak as much as possible while helping with pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar and natural phrasing along the way. I'm also happy to focus on English for professional situations, including job interviews, CVs, workplace conversations and communicating with confidence in a professional environment. Having created many CVs and prepared for interviews throughout my own career, I can help students practise their answers, improve how they present themselves and find more natural ways to express their experience in English. Whether you're learning English for work, travel, everyday life or simply want to become a more confident speaker, I can adapt our sessions around what you would most like to achieve. I want my lessons to feel comfortable and encouraging, while still making sure you come away from each conversation having learnt something useful.
