I am a dedicated history and social studies tutor with a Master of Arts in History, specializing in European and American studies. I hold a Master of Arts in History with a concentration in European and American Studies and have several years of experience supporting students in reading, writing, and history. My approach focuses on building confidence, developing critical thinking skills, and helping students connect what they learn to real-world contexts. I’m passionate about creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences that encourage curiosity and academic growth.
Teaching Method & Techniques:
My tutoring style is interactive, discussion-based, and tailored to the individual needs of each student. I break down complex historical events into clear, manageable steps and help students identify cause and effect, bias, historical significance, and thematic connections. For writing, I focus on structure, clarity, argument-building, and evidence use. I also incorporate mini-assessments—such as quick summaries, think-alouds, or short analysis tasks—to check for understanding and encourage metacognition.
Typical Lesson Plan:
A typical session begins with a brief check-in to identify goals for the day and address any immediate questions. I then provide a focused mini-lesson on the topic and guide the student through practice with real examples. We end with a short reflection or recap to reinforce what they learned and outline next steps. My sessions are structured but flexible, ensuring students stay on track while still having room to explore their questions and interests.
