About Dan
I am currently studying for my undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences at the University of Birmingham. Both during my gap year and later years of school I have done a lot of youth education work, both in a formal and informal setting.
I have tutored before for (I)GCSEs and internal school exams. I would be most comfortable teaching biology, chemistry, physics and maths, especially as there is an interdisciplinary nature to these subjects.
I feel that my academic record is detailed in my CV but for further reassurance, I received a 1st Class mark for my first year as an undergraduate.

I have always been passionate about the world around me and the subjects which I have studied, with the sciences having especially peaked my interest.
Public exams for most students are a daunting prospect. There is something quite scary about having to prove that you have learnt and understood years of content, possibly in a subject you struggle with in an exam which only lasts a matter of hours. It seems a shame that so much of taking public exams is about jumping through hoops and using proper exam technique because most often in schools, the rigidity of a syllabus and teaching can detract from the excitement one can feel when learning new things.
I feel that my teaching method is flexible and that I am able to adapt to the needs of the student and their parents/guardians. It may sound strange but I know what it feels like to not understand something which means that I have learnt to be creative with trying to communicate and understand complex ideas.
I am approachable and warm and I feel that if I were to get the opportunity to teach and mentor a student, they would do well in an environment where I make learning fun and they are not afraid to ask questions.

Details
My prices vary based on the nature of what I'm teaching.
For lower school internal exams, I work for £10/h.
For (I)GCSEs, I work for £15/h.
Both of these prices I feel are highly competitive within London where I have heard of tutors charging as much as £60/h which I feel is totally unreasonable.
