About Romela

Hello! I’m Romela, an experienced Biology and Chemistry tutor with an MPhil in Biotechnology and a Bachelor's degree in Biochemistry.

I have a strong academic background in the life sciences and enjoy helping students understand subjects that may initially seem difficult or overwhelming. I teach students internationally, from middle-school level through university, and have experience supporting learners with different curricula, academic goals and examination systems.

My teaching is focused on clear explanations, strong conceptual understanding and exam preparation. I believe students learn best when they understand why something happens rather than simply memorising facts. I therefore adapt my lessons to each student's learning style, level and specific areas of difficulty.

I can help students with GCSE/IGCSE, A-Level, IB and AP Biology, as well as university-level Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology. I also teach Chemistry, including Organic Chemistry and topics closely related to Biochemistry.

Whether you are preparing for an upcoming examination, struggling with a particular topic, catching up with your coursework or looking for ongoing academic support, I will work with you to create a clear and structured learning plan.

My goal is to make Biology and Chemistry clearer, more manageable and more enjoyable, while helping you develop the confidence to tackle questions independently.

About the lesson

I believe Biology becomes much easier when students understand the logic behind each concept rather than simply memorising information. My approach is therefore concept-based, structured and exam-focused, while adapting every lesson to the student's individual needs.

Before beginning, I identify the student's current level, learning goals and areas that need improvement. During lessons, I use clear explanations, diagrams, examples and guided questioning to make complex topics easier to understand. I then help students apply what they have learned through practice questions and exam-style problems.

For students preparing for exams, I place particular emphasis on past-paper questions, mark schemes, common mistakes, exam technique and applying knowledge to unfamiliar questions. I also provide structured revision plans when students have a specific examination or deadline.

A typical lesson is 60 minutes, although lessons can be adapted depending on the student's age, level and goals. A lesson may include concept teaching, active questioning, practice questions, reviewing mistakes and planning what to work on next.

I have an MPhil in Biotechnology and a Bachelor's background in Biochemistry, giving me a strong foundation in Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Genetics and Biotechnology. I have experience teaching students internationally, from middle-school level through university, and I work with students following different curricula and examination systems.

My lessons are suitable for GCSE/IGCSE, A-Level, IB, AP and university-level students, as well as learners who simply want to strengthen their Biology or Chemistry knowledge.
