About Julia
I have always felt like I belong in the classroom, even from a very young age. I believe in the power of lifelong learning, and I am constantly a student myself, never stop to improve my knowledge. I am dedicated to mental health awareness and diversity, which means I will do my best to accept and accommodate the needs of everyone when it comes to learning. I like approaching topics from a holistic and interdisciplinary perspective, since I believe science should be available for anyone who is interested and willing to learn. Outside of the classroom, I am a PhD researcher investigating how habitat fragmentation affects bird ecology, and I also have a strong background in restoration and biodiversity conservation. I value all forms of creativity, and I try to incorporate creative elements into my lessons.

I am a qualified teacher who has been teaching for over 10 years now. Besides biology, which is my main field now, I have also been teaching languages for many years. Currently, I am a teaching assistant at the University of Auckland while completing my PhD on bird ecology. I have experience with different age groups and have the sensitivity to adjust and adapt my lessons to personal needs. My past students know me for my fun and inclusive teaching style, enthusiasm, and the ability to make people feel comfortable in the classroom. I encourage questions, even if they challenge my knowledge. I recommend 45-minute classes, as I know from experience that longer classes may be challenging for the concentration of many. Upon request, longer classes may also be available.
