About Shawn
Hey There! Hi! I’m Shawn, a Biomedical Sciences student at St. John’s University on the pre-med track, with a strong academic background in Biology and Chemistry.
Alongside my studies, I work as a university tutor, helping students with Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology, and other science courses. I also have experience tutoring high school students and working with students who may need concepts explained in a different or simpler way.
Beyond the classroom, I’m involved in scientific research at St. John’s University, where I work in a research laboratory studying proteins and gaining hands-on experience with molecular biology and biochemistry techniques. Being involved in research has given me a deeper understanding of the science I teach—and I love bringing that curiosity into my tutoring sessions.
I’m also actively involved in student leadership and science organizations on campus, so communication, mentoring, and working with students are a big part of what I do.
Most importantly, I’m patient and approachable. I know Biology and Chemistry can look intimidating at first, and I genuinely enjoy turning those “I have no idea what this means” moments into “Ohhh, I get it now!”
My goal is not just better grades, it’s helping students become more confident and independent learners.

Okay, one thing I say to everyone is Science doesn’t have to feel complicated!
My lessons are interactive, personalized, and focused on actually understanding Biology and Chemistry—not just memorizing facts for the next test.
I break difficult concepts into simple steps, use examples that make sense, and practice with students until they feel confident solving problems on their own. Every lesson is adapted to the student’s learning style and what they need most.
I can help with high school Biology & Chemistry, NYS Regents preparation, General Biology, General Chemistry, homework, quizzes, and exam prep.
Whether your student needs to catch up, improve their grade, prepare for an exam, or simply feel more confident in science, my goal is to make every session supportive, productive, and enjoyable.
