About Lars
As a recent college graduate, I know that school can be hard. Oftentimes it feels like teachers and professors have not taken the time to understand how we as humans most effectively learn, and they are just going through the motions and expecting that we follow along. But in my experience, there is a lot that needs to change about how we are taught, and I am to share what I have learned to others on the same path. As a recent graduate from a rigorous science degree, and a teaching assistant and self-taught learning expert, I have the experience and skills that can help you help yourself to improve immensely in your academic career.

As a biology student who has taught themselves a lot of material, I know the strategies that work and those that don't. I have spent lots of time trying out different learning and studying strategies and have seen that active recall coupled with spaced repetition and a good amount of practice problems is the key to academic success. My work as a teaching assistant during my time at Virginia Tech has also helped me understand various learning styles and preferences and I am a very adaptable teacher. As a younger tutor, I have firsthand and relevant experience that will help others learn. My lessons are best suited for high-school to freshmen/sophomores in college focused on biology, general chemistry, and some basic physics.
