About Victoria

I am a Wildlife Conservation Masters student who graduated last summer with a first-class degree in Zoology. I have previous teaching experience having worked as a tutor of maths and biology for family friends at both GCSE and A-Level standards. I have achieved top grades in maths and further maths at GCSE, A-Level and also have a free-standing maths qualification with OCR. My primary knowledge is in core maths and statistics (which I continued in my degree), but also have experience with mechanics and decision mathematics. I have worked as a gymnastics coach for 8 years and in a school environment as an admin assistant and receptionist. I know how important it is to focus on the individual and how to build on their strengths and help develop areas in which they are less secure and therefore every session would be tailored to the student.

About the lesson

I believe in understanding concepts, rather than just fact learning, and will help ensure that a student develops life skills, such as confidence and critical thinking, as well as knowledge. I am easy to talk to and understand the importance of a pressure-free environment where you can make mistakes and learn from them rather than being scared to try. I am also patient and understanding and will take my time to work things through with students so that they don't feel rushed and can progress at their own rate. I will structure sessions to have aims or targets so that students can be encouraged and feel a sense of achievement when they reach these goals. All aims and targets will be determined by both me and the student to ensure we both know what we want to achieve and to keep the sessions student-specific.
