About Adriana
I am an Honors Biochemistry student at McMaster University with a strong academic background in biology, chemistry, and the life sciences. Throughout my degree, I have developed both a deep understanding of these subjects and an appreciation for how different students learn in different ways.
I am a patient, approachable, and dedicated tutor who believes that asking questions is an important part of learning. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students feel confident working through challenging material without feeling embarrassed about making mistakes or needing something explained more than once.
I take the time to understand each student's individual goals and adapt my teaching to their learning style and level. Whether you are looking to strengthen your foundation, prepare for an upcoming assessment, or simply feel more confident in your coursework, I will work with you to develop a clear and practical approach to reaching your goals.
As someone who has navigated challenging university-level science courses myself, I understand that success is about more than memorizing information. I want my students to leave each lesson feeling more confident in their abilities and better equipped to approach problems independently.

My approach to tutoring is centered around making challenging concepts clear, manageable, and easier to apply independently. As an Honors Biochemistry student at McMaster University, I have built a strong foundation in biology, chemistry, and related life science subjects, and I understand that memorizing information alone isn't enough.
I adapt each lesson to the student's needs, whether they need help understanding a difficult concept, preparing for an upcoming test, working through practice questions, or building stronger study strategies. I focus on breaking complex topics into smaller steps, using diagrams and examples when helpful, and connecting new concepts to material the student already understands. I also encourage students to explain concepts in their own words and work through problems themselves so they build confidence rather than relying on memorization.
A typical lesson begins by identifying what the student is struggling with and reviewing any relevant foundational concepts. We then work through the material together, followed by practice questions or application-based problems to make sure the student can use what they have learned independently. I leave time at the end to review key takeaways and identify anything that should be revisited in the next lesson.
What sets me apart is that I understand the experience of being a student and the importance of finding an explanation that actually makes sense to you. I aim to create a supportive, judgment-free environment where students can ask questions, make mistakes, and take the time they need to understand the material.
My lessons are best suited for middle school and high school students taking biology or chemistry, as well as students looking for additional support in introductory university-level life sciences.
