About Armando

I am a father and business entrepreneur and I started teaching two years ago. I have been a substitute teacher for all elementary school grades in the New York City Department of Education. I just completed my first full year as a lead fifth grade teacher and social studies teacher for grades five through eight in a Catholic school. I was born and raised in New York City and I currently live in the Bronx. I am a product of the public school system. I also am a graduate of the Prep for Prep program which helped me enroll in the Collegiate School for Boys for my middle and high school years. I attended Syracuse University where I graduated with a triple major in political science, sociology and Spanish language and literature.

About the lesson

I empower students to speak and read aloud confidently. I support students by highlighting their strengths and progress rather than simply focusing on the wrong answers. I can empathize with students of all backgrounds having attended public elementary school and then an elite private school for middle and upper school. I instill a college prep mindset to help students set both academic and personal growth goals for their adult lives.
