About Lis

I love helping young Spanish speakers to be able to translate for their families as they transition to life in an English environment. I worked for 16 years as a bilingual public school reading tutor, helping identify areas of need with language acquisition. Reading opens your world and gives you powerful knowledge and understanding. Leer es poder. Poder es leer.

About the lesson

My 16 years of experience is with young Spanish speakers ages 5-10. But I can work with any eager age.
I teach letter sounds, English phonics, grammar, vocabulary, reading fluency and comprehension. My focus is transitioning students from Spanish to English reading.

Lessons should be 30-45 mins daily, or every other day.
A typical lesson includes:
10 minutes skill lesson
5-10 minute game to apply the lesson
15-20 minutes reading out loud.

Progress is measured by timed readings and word comprehension.
Goals are set together. I offer prize incentives along the way.
I love children and want to help them succeed.
