About Samuel

Bonjour! I'm Samuel, a 21 bilingual English-French tutor with a British and French background. My parents are from England, but I was born in France and lived there until I was 18, going through the whole of the French education system.

I completed my secondary education through the OIB (Option Internationale du Baccalauréat) at the Centre International de Valbonne, in the South of France — a bilingual programme combining the full French curriculum with an intensive English-language track — graduating with highest honours in my Baccalauréat. I went on to complete a degree in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam, where I gained 2 years tutoring French alongside my studies, and am now living in London.

About the lesson

My teaching method and techniques: Every student's goals are different, so I tailor sessions around yours instead of running a fixed syllabus. I start by identifying what's actually going wrong in how you speak or write and build lessons around fixing that specifically.

A typical lesson: Lessons vary depending on what you're working towards. If you're preparing for an exam, we'll go through past papers and mark schemes for your specific board, with a focus on the technique examiners actually reward. If you're after conversational fluency, sessions are more spoken French from the start — real conversation, correcting mistakes as they come up rather than through drills. Either way, I end each session with direct feedback on what's improving and what isn't.

What sets me apart: I'm a native speaker of both French and English, raised and educated largely in France, where I got highest honours in my Baccalauréat. I've written extensively in French throughout my education: essays, dissertations, exam papers. I know what strong written French actually looks like, not just how to speak it.

Who this is for: GCSE, A-Level, and IB French students, people who speak the French taught in school but want to attain actual conversational fluency that you don't learn in school, and anyone else interested in learning the language!
