About Isabella

I am personalized: Every problem has several approaches, I listen to my students to learn which approach will feel intuitive and keep them engaged. I am prepared: I have 12 years' worth of study materials from writing my own problems and solutions, “cheat sheets”/lesson outlines, even interactive demos as well as outside material accumulated from my own professors along the way. And I am passionate: I’m able to relive the joy of learning a subject for the first time through each of my students; I’m grateful for that. My passion for learning pushes me to dissect and understand a topic down to its building blocks. I love being able to share that with my students and learn from their understanding as well!

About the lesson

My lessons can lean towards an engaged mentorship plan (typically geared towards K-12) or a strictly knowledge based plan (college students).

A typical 1 hour session goes like this:
5 minutes to hear how my student’s week went, at school or otherwise.
5-10 minutes to review any graded school work, to make sure we understand any mistakes that were made.
30-45 minutes to focus on their knowledge gaps through readings/engaging questions and problem solving.
Remainder of time working on problem sets and homework.

I tried Kahn academy and other online resources but none of them were nearly as helpful as an hour of one-on-one help with her.
