About Heather

Heather Klayman is an alumna of the University of Southern Mississippi, holding a Bachelor's of Arts and Sciences degree in Choral/Vocal Music Education. Starting on the violin at age 6, she grew up immersed in music as she also took voice/performance lessons as an elementary child and piano/music theory lessons during her early teens. In high school, she was heavily involved in choir as an alto section leader and marching/concert band as the percussion captain. During university, she was a significant participant in many of the ensembles at USM including the world-renowned Southern Chorale, Belletones and Spirit of Southern as the original beatboxer of today's mixed ensemble. She has performed at Carnegie Hall in 2018 and 2019, and headlined ACDA in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and North Carolina. Heather has performed internationally at the Jeju International Festival of Choirs in South Korea in 2020, amongst other visiting choirs from Costa Rica, Latvia, and others across South Korea. Since receiving her B.A.S in 2022, she has offered private lessons for students ages 5-18 years old as a traveling instructor and at music academies.

About the lesson

Heather's mission as a music teacher is to provide a space tailored and crafted to each of her individual students, focusing on their personal needs for growth. Her belief is to meet her students where they are at in their musical journey, and connect with them on a deeper level with the purpose of encouraging them to connect with themselves as musicians and humans.

Lessons include music fundamentals, sight-reading/singing, ear training, vocal and instrumental technique, grounding and breathing practices.

Whether you are a beginner who has never read music in your life, or a seasoned singer looking for constructive feedback, I am looking forward to getting to know you and enhance your learning on your musical journey!
